This month we want to highlight Jalapenos chillies that is grown and canned in the Indian region of Bangalore by Reitzel India. Originally from Switzerland, the REITZEL company set up in India in 2005 to produce condiments, in particular pickles and jalapenos.
Jalapenos Species is Capsicum annuum. Normally, the jalapenos in fresh harvest have about 2500 to 3000 scoville heat units (SHU). In the processed form, after packing into glass jar, there is a reduction of this SHU by about 30 to 50%.
This vegan, gluten-free, vegetarian and non-GMO condiment is small and mighty pepper is one of the tastiest around. Not only does it bring a kick of heat to recipes, it adds a bright zingy flavor that’s hard to replicate with any other ingredient.
This medium-sized pepper was originally cultivated in Mexico, so it’s often associated with Mexican cuisine. it can be used in many ways: in salsas, sauces and guacamole. It can be cooked and put on eggs, grilled salmon, slices of bread and in soups. Finally, it can be used in appetizers such as jalapeno bacon, jalapeno hummus or jalapeno mac and cheese and also into a spicy margarita
Available in glass jars for mass distribution, it is also packaged in 3 KG boxes or 2.50 KG pouches for catering.
This factory has made quality a priority, as attested by the BRC Food, IFS Food, Kosher and Halal certifications. But REITZEL has gone further by becoming 100% sustainable. This notion is not limited to respect for the environment but also includes respect for farmers, their employees and their consumer customers.
These condiments are of course produced in a sustainable, organic and local way. This approach finally resulted in obtaining the Fairtrade label, which guarantees its suppliers better purchase prices and its employees decent working conditions. This Fairtrade certification is a real plus in trade negotiations with large restaurant chains.
